GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply in Ireland from 25 May 2018, replacing the current data protection regime with a new compliance framework, including new or increased obligations for data controllers, transparency and accountability requirements, security requirements, enforcement powers and sanctions, and rights for individuals.

Preparing for the GDPR

The GDPR is a game-changer requiring a shift in mindset about data protection. Businesses and organisations need to immediately start getting GDPR compliant. However, every business and organisation is unique so there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Compliance is a process, and we recommend a 4-step approach based on (1) assessing where you are now, (2) identifying the gaps in GDPR compliance, (3) prioritising remedial actions based on risk and resources, and (4) implementing key changes and actions to move towards compliance.
